I have been trained in Person Centred Counselling first made popular through the work of Carl Rogers (1902-1987) one of the founding fathers of Humanistic Psychology. To me, this means that I hold a profound respect for you as an individual, with a genuine acceptance and appreciation of your uniqueness and potential. I believe that you hold the resources within yourself to grow, and ultimately to find the solutions and answers to move forward.
I see my role as supporting you in this and hope to offer you the facilitative conditions to do so. Although I will be actively engaging with you and working alongside you in this process, it is always you who will determine the pace and objectives of therapy.
My understanding and experience will be readily available if and when helpful and is informed by, and integrates, elements from other therapeutic approaches which include: body awareness, cognitive behavioural, solution focussed, systemic and creative therapies. I also use Dr. Eugene Gendlin’s focusing method in my therapeutic work.
You are always at the centre of your counselling and you will decide what works best for you.
